AENA has awarded the contract for the “Supply in operation and validation of equipment for the implementation of ATS services provided by Remote Tower – RTM Menorca” to Gesnaer.

For the complete implementation of the Remote Tower System (RTS), GESNAER will collaborate with the Norwegian companies KONGSBERG and AVINOR. These companies are experts in the implementation of remote towers, with REMOTE TOWER SYSTEM (RTS) certified by the Norwegian Aeronautical Authority, and are currently developing the world’s largest Remote Control Center in Bodo, Norway.

According to Milagros Jiménez and Juan Manuel Pérez, founders of Gesnaer, this is a historic milestone that will drive a change in the future of the sector, a major milestone of which the entire Gesnaer team will be proud of. The implementation of remote control tower technology is already a reality in Spain. This pioneering event will spark innovation in the airport and air navigation sector. The new system to be implemented in the control tower of Menorca will ensure operational improvements in terms of safety and air traffic management capacity. This will be possible thanks to the availability of other information systems that will enrich the image received in real time that will be displayed on the screens of the future Remote Control Center through installed cameras and sensors.
