  • SWISS is to gradually lift its crisis response measures agreed in Switzerland early. The company’s restructuring has stabilized its financial position and a positive trend can be seen in the demand for air travel.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is to gradually lift the measures agreed in Switzerland in response to the recent crisis early from 1 January 2023. The modalities for doing so will be finalized in collaboration with the company’s social partners over the next few weeks.

The restructuring initiated in 2021 is having its effects, and has stabilized the company in financial terms. A further cause for confidence is the sizeable pent-up demand for air travel that is currently being experienced. As expected, travel volumes are still not at their pre-pandemic levels; but a positive trend can clearly be seen.

“Two years of short-time working, crisis response agreements and restructuring combined with highly challenging flight operations have made huge demands on all our employees,” says SWISS CEO Dieter Vranckx. “In view of this, and of the gradual recovery in the desire for air travel, we feel it is right to start gradually lifting the crisis response measures that were agreed in Switzerland from the beginning of next year.”
