Aerolíneas Argentinas has confirmed a new special flight, this time from Barcelona, scheduled to arrive in Ezeiza International Airport on May 3 at 3:45 a.m.

While it is a special flight authorized in the context of the global health crisis caused by COVID-19, it entails the return of Aerolíneas Argentinas to El Prat Airport after the cancellation of its regular operation in February 2018.

Under Number AR1160, the Aerolíneas Argentinas Airbus 330-200 will carry 264 Argentine citizens back home. Said flight is in addition to the 55 special flights already operated by the company which, starting on March 18, have allowed for the return to the country of more than 17,000 Argentine passengers flying from Miami, Madrid, Punta Cana, Cancun, Bogota, Quito, Lima, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Porto Seguro and Florianopolis.

It is worth mentioning that, early in the morning today, a special flight from Madrid arrived in our country carrying 264 Argentine passengers who were stranded in Europe.

“This flight is very special because, even though we are living in different circumstances, it entails the return of Aerolíneas Argentinas to Barcelona, a city that many Argentine passengers visit due to its touristic prominence, the vast amount of Argentine immigrants and the cultural bonds between both countries. Therefore, many Argentine citizens were waiting for this flight in order to return home,” explained Pablo Ceriani, President of Aerolíneas Argentinas.

It is important to highlight that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship is the authority that defines the lists of passengers based on the priorities established by health protocols. Said modality applies to exceptional flights. That is why passengers have been asked to make their requests through the consular offices.

Lastly, in addition to the special flights, the company has scheduled a total of 8 flights from Shanghai, China, with the purpose of bringing medical supplies, reagents and health materials to the country, for their allocation to the Argentine Public Healthcare System. The fifth of these flights will depart from Ezeiza International Airport tomorrow at 11:30 p.m.
