The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) welcomes Neste as a new affiliate member, the world’s largest producer of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel made from waste materials.

Its turbine fuel, called Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel ™, offers an immediate solution to reduce direct carbon emissions from flights by reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas GHG emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil fuels.

José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director & CEO of ALTA, comments: “We are pleased to welcome Neste as an affiliate member in ALTA and in our Fuel Committee. Its scope, experience and support will provide an important contribution and good practice to the initiatives in ALTA and our members.”

“Neste is excited to join ALTA and collaborate with Latin America’s aviation industry to grow the market for sustainable aviation fuel,” says Chris Cooper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation Americas, Neste. “Passenger volumes in Latin America could double over the next decade, creating a significant economic boost for the region. By working together, Neste, ALTA and its airline members can ensure this growth is sustainable and, most importantly, keep more Latin Americans flying with less greenhouse gas emissions.”

The company is a technologically advanced refiner of high-quality fuels and other products, both renewable and conventional, for the transport sector.

This year Neste ranked third on the Global 100 list of the most globally sustainable companies. Upon arrival at ALTA, Neste will support the efforts of the aviation industry in the region to achieve even more environmentally conscious and environmentally responsible operations.
