Aeromexico has joined a select group of companies with the CEIV Pharma (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics) certification, awarded by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The certificate is the result of the processes, infrastructure, equipment, operations, and qualified personnel that guarantee compliance with the highest standards for transporting temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.

To obtain the certificate, Aeromexico completed a rigorous documentary and on-site audit of its aircraft, warehouses, and tarmac, among other aspects, to verify compliance with the requirements defined by IATA and the pharmaceutical industry.

As a result, the airline will increase its connectivity in shipping pharmaceutical products, highlighting 10 international hubs in Asia, Europe and South America:

  •   Asia: South Korea, and Japan.
  •   Europe: Spain, the Netherlands, France, and London.
  •   South America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia.

“This pandemic brought us many lessons learned, and I can proudly say that the infrastructure and talent of Mexico’s global airline, allowed us to promptly respond to the demand in the transportation of vaccines and medical supplies, not only in Mexico, but for us, in new destinations in more than 15 countries on three continents,” said Alejandro Mendez Gonzalez, Aeromexico’s Cargo Senior Vice President, and added: “The certification manifests that each medicine and product that saves lives, is handled, transported, and delivered in optimal conditions”.

Since the beginning of the pandemic and to date, Aeromexico has performed nearly 400 charter flights to 15 countries, shipping almost 7,000 tons of health-related supplies, and more than 80 tons of the active substance to produce Covid-19 vaccines.

Aeromexico Cargo can operate in more than 35 airports in Mexico and multiple international destinations in the United States, Canada, Central, and South America, Asia, and Europe. The most common cargo is perishable goods, live animals, high-value goods, technology, pharmaceuticals, and medical supplies, among others.
