Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in partnership with Delta Air Lines today announced the airline has extended their lease agreement to keep the Technical Operations Center (TOC) in Atlanta for another 30 years. The 200-acre campus at ATL employs approximately 7,000 people. The TOC is the largest and most sophisticated aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in North America, and one of the largest in the world. Delta TechOps employees perform engine work and overhauls, component overhauls and repair, aircraft maintenance, line maintenance and more to Delta’s 850-aircraft fleet, as well as to engines and airplanes of its customers.
“Delta Air Lines’ partnership with Atlanta and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport ensures that thousands of skilled, high-paying technical jobs remain in Atlanta for the next 30 to 50 years,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “It also reinforces Hartsfield-Jackson as the key hub for the airline’s global operations, creating economic opportunity for Atlanta and the region.”
“Delta TechOps is home to the most skilled, dedicated and innovative aviation professionals in the world, and we’re thrilled to keep our global center for excellence in our hometown for decades to come,” said Ed Bastian, Delta’s CEO. “For 80 years, Delta has been central to Atlanta’s growth and economic development, and it’s gratifying that our partnership will continue in the years ahead.”
“Our partnership with Delta Air Lines is invaluable to ATL and we are thrilled to know that the feeling is mutual,” said Airport General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari. “The lease extension for the Delta Technical Operations Center signifies the strength of that partnership and manifests Delta’s confidence in doing business here in Atlanta. This agreement has a tremendous economic impact and we look forward to working together with Delta to continue providing best-in-class service to travelers around the world.”
Delta Air Lines has called Atlanta home since 1941. The various facilities that comprise the TOC include multiple aircraft hangars, engine and airframe overhaul shops, and state-of-the-art jet engine test cells. The Delta TechOps division continues to expand its maintenance, repair, and overhaul services and plans to hire approximately 1,000 additional employees with technical experience to fill engineering, logistics, technician and maintenance utility roles.
