Boeing Statement on U.S.-EU Understanding on Aircraft Subsidies

Source: Boeing Boeing today released the following statement: “Boeing welcomes the agreement by Airbus and the European Union that all future government support for the development or production of commercial aircraft must be provided on market terms. The understanding reached today commits the EU to addressing launch aid, and leaves in place the necessary rules to ensure that the EU and United States live up to that commitment, without requiring further WTO action. EU and US take decisive step to end aircraft dispute

Source: European Commission European Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskisand US Trade Representative Katherine Tai reached an understanding relating to large civil aircraft, transforming almost 17 years of disputes into a forward-looking, collaborative platform to address bilateral issues as well as global challenges. Both sides will now seek to overcome long-standing differences in order to avoid future litigation and preserve a level playing field between our aircraft manufacturers and will also work to prevent new differences from arising. U.S. Airlines Narrow Net Loss in 1st Quarter 2021 from 4th Quarter 2020

Source: US DOT   U.S. scheduled passenger airlines reported a first-quarter 2021 after-tax net loss of $4.2 billion and a pre-tax operating loss of $12.7 billion. While these first-quarter losses are the fifth consecutive quarterly losses, the extent of the losses is narrowing. The airlines reduced their losses in the first quarter from the fourth quarter of 2020. The first-quarter after-tax net loss of $4.2 billion was reduced from the fourth-quarter loss of $7.0 billion. The first-quarter pre-tax operating loss of $12.7 billion was increased from the fourth-quarter loss of $9.7 billion. LATAM Group shows signs of recovery, projecting an operation of 36% in June

Source: LATAM LATAM's passenger operation for June 2021 is estimated to reach 36% (measured in available seats-kilometers - ASK) relative to the same month in 2019, in a pre-pandemic context. The forecast operation is higher than that of last May (30.8%, measured in ASK), as all markets show higher projections than those of the previous month , largely attributed to the progress of the vaccination rollout in the countries where LATAM operates and the resulting increase in demand. LATAM estimates approximately 691 daily domestic and international flights in the sixth month of the year, connecting 114 destinations in 14 countries.
