U.S. Will Block Russian Aircraft from Using All Domestic Airspace

FAA Expands Use of Independent Review Groups When Certifying Aircraft

Source: US FAA The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is continuing to make progress in reforming its aircraft certification processes. This week, the agency expanded the use of independent groups of internal and external safety experts for certification projects such as commercial aircraft, smaller aircraft and drones. These reviews, called Technical Advisory Boards (TAB), help the FAA have a consistent and thorough approach for all aircraft certification projects. The changes go beyond a key requirement of the Aircraft Certification, Safety, and Accountability Act. IATA: Air Passenger Numbers to Recover in 2024

Source: IATA The International Air Transport Association (IATA) expects overall traveler numbers to reach 4.0 billion in 2024 (counting multi-sector connecting trips as one passenger), exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels (103% of the 2019 total). Expectations for the shape of the near-term recovery have shifted slightly, reflecting the evolution of government-imposed travel restrictions in some markets. Iberia Maintenance awarded a Qatar Airways V2500 engines contract

Delta suspends codeshare with Aeroflot

Source: Delta Air Lines Delta has withdrawn our codeshare services operated in conjunction with Russian national airline, Aeroflot, effective immediately. We have removed our code from Aeroflot-operated services beyond Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and removed Aeroflot’s code from Delta-operated services from Los Angeles and New York-JFK. Accommodations will be made for customers affected by these changes. Delta does not operate services to Ukraine or Russia.

ICAO Council condemns violation of territorial integrity and airspace of Ukraine

Source: ICAO The 36 States composing the ICAO Council discussed today the situation unfolding in Ukraine, during a scheduled meeting of the ICAO Governing Body’s 225th Session. A representative of Ukraine also participated in the Council meeting on the basis of the State’s stake in the situation. IAG Final Results 2021

Source: IAG International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG) today (February 25, 2022) presented its unaudited Group consolidated results for the year to December 31, 2021. Passenger capacity in quarter 4 was 58% of 2019 capacity, up from 43% in quarter 3 and for the full year was 36% of 2019 capacity. Greater Toronto Airports Authority becomes launch member of newly formed sustainable aviation fuel council
