  • Tata Consultancy Services establishes center of excellence following a partnership with TAP.

Following the partnership with TAP, global IT consultancy and technology provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has inaugurated its Aviation Digital Center in Alfragide near Lisbon, Portugal. In 2022, TAP selected TCS as a strategic partner to accelerate its digital transformation and technological innovation following an international tender.

Based on the strategic partnership, TAP is working with TCS to rationalize and modernize the system architecture, enrich the customer experience, and improve operational performance to better serve the airline customers.

TCS’ Aviation Digital Center is home to its consultants, solution architects and technology experts, who make innovative use of digital technologies — such as the cloud, data analysis and automation — to support European companies across the entire aviation value chain.

The center is part of the TCS European Delivery Network and will also be used as a nearshore facility to serve other global TCS customers in the transportation sector, which is expected to result in more technology jobs in Portugal.

In fact, the new TCS center is taking advantage of the thriving talent pool in Portugal to serve clients across Europe and is already staffed with 75 highly qualified professionals.

Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, believes that “TAP is continuing its ambitious transformation plan and TCS was selected as a partner based on its deep experience in the airline industry, proven track record of carrying out digital transformations and technological leadership. We are very pleased to confirm that this partnership established with TAP attracted this TCS investment to Portugal, which creates a center of technological expertise that is unparalleled in our country and even in Europe.”

“The TCS Aviation Digital Center sets itself apart by offering deep global industry expertise and technology capabilities unique to the needs of airlines and transportation companies right here in Europe. It is a demonstration of our continuing commitment to the European market, and we are eager to expand our partnerships with European airlines and transportation companies embarking on enterprise transformation journeys to hone their competitive edge and build more resilient and sustainable businesses,” said Krishnan Ramanujam, President, Consumer Business Group, TCS.
