To make the Ocean a common responsibility and preserve it, the Tara Ocean Foundation raises awareness and educates the younger generations to protect this vital ecosystem. It is in this context of raising awareness and educating the general public about climate issues that the Tara Ocean Foundation is exhibiting at the Photoclimat biennial event, which will be held until 17 October 2021, at the Place de la Bastille in Paris.
The Air France Foundation supports the Tara Ocean Foundation
The Tara Ocean Foundation is the first foundation dedicated to the ocean to be recognized as a public-interest organization in France. It has two main missions, to explore the ocean in order to understand it better and to share scientific knowledge about the ocean in order to promote collective awareness.
For 18 years, it has been developing high-level ocean science, in collaboration with top international research laboratories, to explore, understand and anticipate the upheavals linked to climate and environmental risks as well as the impacts of various forms of pollution.
The partnership between the Air France Foundation and the Tara Ocean Foundation was born out of a strong shared value around education and a common ambition to encourage commitment to eco-responsible behaviour, by raising awareness and getting the younger generation involved. This partnership took concrete form through the participative science programme “Plastic under the microscope” in 2020, and this year, as part of the first edition of Photoclimat, the social and environmental photography biennial in Paris. The Air France Foundation is financing this educational event dedicated to ocean protection issues for young people aged 9-16.
The Air France Corporate Foundation: Dedicated to children in need
The Air France Foundation is based on the conviction that access to education is essential for all children to face the journey of life.
Since it was set up in 1992, the Air France Foundation has been supporting children in need, a cause close to the heart of company staff. It finances projects helping children and young people who are sick, disabled or in great difficulty, in France and in countries where Air France operates. Aware of the importance of preserving the environment, the Air France Foundation knows how to adapt, while maintaining its guiding principle, helping children in need. For the past three years, it has been supporting environmental awareness projects through educational actions contributing to new behaviours and an understanding of climate issues. It is also involved with associations that work to promote biodiversity through projects to raise awareness of sustainable practices that respect natural resources.
