The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) is pleased to welcome Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) as its new affiliate member, joining the ALTA’s group of over 50 affiliated industry suppliers committed to working together for the recovery of the aviation industry.
ASA is a decentralized Federal Government of Mexico organization, created in June 1965 to design, build and operate airport terminals. With over 55 years of experience, Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) operates, manages, builds and preserve airports; markets and provides aviation fuel storage and supply services at Mexico’s main airports; offers technical assistance and consulting, as well as instruction and research in aeronautical and airport matters; participates in technological development and collaborates with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transports in the regulation, checking and supervision of airports.
“It is a pleasure for ALTA to welcome ASA as an affiliate member. Following the recent signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at promoting the development of aviation and its professionals in the Latin American and Caribbean region through the International Training Center of Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (CIIASA), we have plenty opportunities to work together for the industry, not only in training, which is a priority, but also in the aviation fuels’ area, which is highly relevant for airlines. ALTA and ASA share the mission to serve the industry and generate development in Mexico and the region. I am proud to count ASA among ALTA’s members,” commented José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.
The General Director of Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares, Engineer Oscar Arguello, thanked the opportunity given to the organism, as a new affiliate member, to strengthen the capabilities of both organizations in terms of training and development of people in the aviation sector, promote current issues such as the development of sustainable aviation fuels, as well as technologies and processes to simplify the operation between service providers and airlines, in addition to having the possibility of a greater participation and access to the working groups where initiatives are developed to foster the aviation industry in Latin America and Caribbean, and thus be able to share, with ALTA members, ASA’s more than 55 years of experience in the industry.
Through the agreement signed in November, ALTA and ASA will collaborate to expand access to courses, workshops and seminars for aeronautical professionals in the region and, therefore, to the development of the industry in the Latin American and Caribbean region. ASA will provide ALTA members with special discounts on its CIIASA programs. As part of the collaboration initiatives, in February 2022, ALTA will celebrate the first in person meeting of the year of its Fuel Committee in the CIIASA facilities in Mexico.
