Lace ’em up tight because TPA’s 5K on the Runway is almost here!
After a two-year-long hiatus due to COVID-19, TPA’s largest fundraising event, the 5K on the Runway, will be back in person on April 2. Registration will be live on Jan. 15 and spots are limited to 2,000 participants.
This year’s theme: From heart to sole, we’re lacing up and giving back. Proceeds of the race benefit United Way Suncoast, a nonprofit organization with a longstanding partnership with the Airport that focuses efforts on community assistance, early learning and financial stability in the Tampa Bay region.
This year, like many others, the race will be held on runway 10-28. Participants will have the rare opportunity to complete a 3.1-mile race on a real airport runway alongside Fixed Base Operators and dormant aircraft. The race, in its 8th year at TPA, is an Airport tradition and has raised more than half a million dollars since its inception from funds including registration, sponsorships, and raffle tickets.
In 2020, the race was held virtually later in the year while in 2021, the race was cancelled completely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Registration will be live on Jan. 15 and participants can register here. The cost is $35 per participant plus registration fees. Runners, walkers and those in-between are welcome and encouraged to sign up soon as spots are limited and typically fill up quick.
