  • The Airport Council International (ACI) announced today, during the ACI AIRPORT DAY BRAZIL, at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport, the adhesion of Infraero (Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária) as the newest airport member of ACI-LAC, the regional office of ACI in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Airport Council International (ACI) announced, during the ACI AIRPORT DAY BRAZIL, at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport, the adhesion of Infraero (Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária) as the newest airport member of ACI-LAC, the regional office of ACI in Latin America and the Caribbean.

On the occasion, it was also announced the certification of Santos Dumont Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program (ACA), the only global certification program for carbon management approved for airports based on measurable goals that allow evaluation and recognition of operators’ efforts towards decarbonization. The ACA Program certifies airports on 6 levels: ‘Mapping’, ‘Reduction’, ‘Optimization’, ‘Neutrality’, ‘Transformation’ and ‘Transition’. Santos Dumont Airport received the level 1 certification – “Mapping”.

Besides Santos Dumont, the Brazilian airports currently certified by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program (ACA) are the Brasília International Airport, Natal International Airport and Rio de Janeiro Tom Jobim International Airport (level 1 – “Mapping”), and Belo Horizonte International Airport and Salvador International Airport (level 2 – “Reduction”).

We are also proud to have the Airport Carbon Accreditation Program certify Santos Dumont Airport, one of the most important in terms of air traffic in the country, which demonstrates the commitment of a national public company with sustainable development and with the quality of services provided to passengers”, concluded Rafael Echevarne, general director of ACI-LAC.
