Aeromexico presented its 2021 Sustainability Report to the Mexican Stock Exchange. In this document, the airline declared 93 Global Reporting Initiative, the most updated standards used to report best practices globally on a company’s economic, environmental, and social impact.

In 2021 the company continued innovating in governance, environment, social impact, customer experience, and destination network consolidation, among other relevant aspects. Some data stand out:

  • More than 16 million passengers carried
  • Received 28 new aircraft that are more efficient and generate lower emissions by up to 17% compared to other aircraft
  • Women hold 22% of management positions. The company joined the 25by2025 global initiative of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which aims to increase the representation of women in these positions
  • The Vuela Verde programme mitigated the impact of 3,382 tons of CO2, equivalent to almost 380 flights between Mexico City (MEX) and Monterrey (MTY) with zero emissions
  • The Aeromexico-Delta alliance strengthened, and a codeshare agreement was signed with LATAM Airlines Colombia, LATAM Airlines Brazil, and LATAM Airlines Peru
  • In terms of digital experience, in 2021, actions focused on:
  1. Optimized and personalized shopping experience with new and more flexible fares
  2. New payment methods and use of Premier Points
  3. Improved experience during the reservation and check-in processes
  • Other social and environmental actions:
  1. Nearly 14 MDP was contributed to various social support programs
  2. Trained an additional 200 employees in the fight against human trafficking
  3. In alliance with the Centro Nacional de Trasplantes (CENATRA), over 70 organs were transported for transplant purposes
  4. Replacement of 100% of the plastic packaging of hearing aids on board with Kraft paper
  5. In the Mexico City facilities (Hangar Oriente, Terminal de Servicios, and Hangar Connect) the water consumption decreased by 16% compared to 2020
  6. Implementation of the Juntos Desde Casa programme for all employees where emotional, health, physical, mental, and financial issues are addressed through webinars, workshops, and dynamic sessions
  • With respect to corporate governance, Aeromexico noted milestones such as:
  1. The formation of a new Board of Directors
  2. For the third time in a row, Aeromexico improved its score in the IC-500, a metric of the integrity and anti-corruption policies of the 500 largest companies in Mexico
  3. Operation of an Ethics Hotline managed by a third party to report alleged violations of the Code of Conduct

In the Report, Aeromexico shows its most relevant actions and urges to join efforts with the industry, customers, authorities, and different sectors to fly together towards a sustainable future.
