July 18 marked the inaugural flight Madrid – San José del Cabo, Mexico, the only non-stop flight connecting Europe with the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Service started with an impressive 94% load factor.
Iberojet is an airline of the Avoris business group that also includes the travel and hotel operator Barcelo Group. The conglomerate seeks to expand its presence in the Mexican tourism market. For this, they are collaborating with the government of the State of Baja California Sur, private actors and other groups of interest involved in highlighting the tourist attractions of that coastal region of Mexico on the Pacific Ocean.
From Portugal to the Dominican Republic
Just one day later, the Spanish airline added the inauguration of a new destination. This time the origin is Portugal, having started a non-stop service from Porto to Punta Cana.
The first flight of this route even exceeded the occupancy factor of the one mentioned above to Los Cabos, since it was sold and occupied until the last seat, as reported by the company.
The flights will be operated in Airbus A350-900 aircraft with capacity for 434 passengers, generating more than 8 thousand seats this year alone.
