  • An association committed to facilitating and expanding the training of aviation personnel

Starting today, the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) includes on its website a virtual space that gathers courses, workshops and educational opportunities offered by partner universities and training centers.

Known as the ALTA Training Hub, this information center brings together all available educational programs in key areas such as management of airlines and airports, flight safety, operations, human factors, aeronautical English, pilot training and education, aeronautical law, environment, among others.

ALTA Training Hub already has 7 training partners: The Superior Academy of Aeronautical Sciences (ASCA) in the Dominican Republic, the International Training Center for Airports and Auxiliary Services “Ing. Roberto Kobeh González” (CIIASA) in Mexico, IATA Training, ITAérea in Spain, the Provincial University of Ezeiza in Argentina, the Regional University of the North in Mexico and Wayman Aviation Academy in the USA, which offer ALTA members special discounts on classroom and virtual courses.

Professionals and applicants, all on board!

The aviation industry is experiencing a powerful recovery in passenger traffic in the region, which is demanding capacity and, therefore, more trained, and certified professionals to serve it.

According to CAE’s forecast, during the current decade and until 2029 the civil aviation industry will need about 260,000 new pilots, out of which 16,000 will be required in Latin America and Caribbean. This demand reflects, among other factors, the fact that air transport will continue to consolidate its position as an essential transport service to connect our region.

CAE also forecasts that 11,000 new aircraft will enter service during the current decade. So, this growth in the world fleet requires thousands of professionals to operate them, cabin crew and maintenance personnel, with the derived service at airports and in the entire chain of air transport, which includes technologies, services, fuel, to name a few.

“Where there is aviation, there is development. There is no place where an aircraft arrives and there is no construction, services, tourism, business and many other economic sectors that create jobs and opportunities for the population. The growth that the aviation industry is experiencing is a great contribution to the socioeconomic development in Latin America and Caribbean. That is why ALTA is beginning to dedicate efforts to support training new and current personnel in the aviation industry in order to be able to meet the growing demand, continue providing an essential service and generating opportunities for the population”, comments José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.

In view of this pressing need, ALTA has forged valuable partnerships with educational institutions and, by launching the ALTA Training Hub, will centralize the educational offerings that our partners provide and facilitate access to the required training so that the largest possible number of professionals entering the industry or who are already in it will continue to expand and update their knowledge.

ALTA already has partnerships with the Center for Aeronautical Studies (CEA) in Colombia, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the U.S.A., the Aeronautical Training Institute (IFA) in Costa Rica, Technological University of Panama (UTP), which will soon offer their academic programming at the ALTA Hub and more are about to join.
