The cargo terminal community at El Dorado International Airport is preparing for the first major flower export season for Valentine’s Day, with Miami as the main destination for export flights.

In that sense, Rafael Echevarne, General Director for ACI – Airports Council International in the regional office of Latin America and the Caribbean highlights the importance of the articulated work between the interested parties for the benefit of the air cargo movement, in this case the flowers that represent between 75% and 80% of the exports from El Dorado.

“With the beginning of the high season of flower exports for the celebration of Valentine’s Day, from ACI-LAC we urge the integral and collaborative work of all actors in the air cargo logistics chain to execute an exemplary standard of planning and operation by cargo agents, crops, airlines and airports.

We are confident that only in this way, with a collaborative vocation among all those involved, will we be able to bring the flagship product for Valentine’s Day to its destination in the world’s markets,” said Dr. Echavarne.

El Dorado offers its cargo terminal capacity with more than 28 flexible aircraft parking positions and almost 73,000 m2 of warehouses, offices and truck movement areas, making it the first airport with a cargo terminal transporting 752,000 tons in Latin America by 2021.
