The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) announces the launch of the “English on the Fly” program in partnership with UCF Global, an innovative initiative designed to improve English language proficiency among airport employees. Recognizing the diverse linguistic background of its workforce, GOAA is dedicated to ensuring that all employees have the support to effectively assist the more than 58 million travelers who pass through Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) each year.
This 8-week program aims to improve job performance and job satisfaction by offering targeted English language training to all participants. Four course levels are offered to accommodate varying levels of English proficiency. Nearly 200 airport employees expressed their interest in enrolling in the first session that began on April 1, with 56 participants celebrated during a completion ceremony on June 5, many of whom cited a desire for better work opportunities as their primary motivation.
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the ‘English on the Fly’ program as we continue to focus on empowering our entire workforce and fostering an inclusive and effective workplace,” said Kevin J. Thibault, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “Providing these opportunities ensures that every employee has the chance to succeed and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional service to all visitors.”
The next 8-week session is scheduled to begin in August and will expand to three times a year.
