  • The anniversary is being celebrated with a promotion of one-way tickets from €25 and return tickets from €49.
  • TAP is celebrating sixty years of regular flights linking Lisbon and the Portuguese mainland to Madeira.

The inaugural flight took place in early July 1964. According to the chronicles of that time, the clock struck 11:24 when TAP’s Super Constellation landed at Madeira airport, simultaneously inaugurating the airport infrastructure, located in Santa Catarina, and fulfilling a long-held dream of the Madeirans.

From that day on, ships and seaplanes were no longer the only ways to get to and from the island and TAP never stopped serving Madeira and the Madeirans and guaranteeing territorial continuity, even during the pandemic, when TAP was the only airline that continued to fly to the Portuguese Autonomous Region.

TAP operates seven flights a day between Lisbon and Cristiano Ronaldo Airport and two flights a day linking Porto and Madeira, reinforcing the decisive impetus it gave from the outset to the affirmation and consolidation of Madeira as a tourist destination with a strong reputation and national and international demand.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Madeira route, TAP is carrying out a promotional campaign until 16 July, offering one-way tickets from €25 and return flights from €49, all taxes included (valid for departures from Lisbon and Funchal).

This campaign is valid for travels between 15 September 2024 and 30 April 2025, with the exception of Christmas, New Year and Easter periods.

In addition, the TAP Miles&Go programme also offers 60 per cent Bonus Miles on all bookings to and from Madeira. Those who are not yet Miles&Go Clients can benefit from this promotion by registering for the programme here.
