The General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Ecuador (acronym in Spanish DGAC) organized the first seminar on Unmanned Aircraft (UAS) also known as drones. This important event was free and open to the public and took place 12-13 December 2024.

The purpose of the seminar was to promote the proper use of this equipment, which has become increasingly important today. For this reason, the Ecuadorean General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC), as an Aeronautical Authority, promotes the proper use of these aircraft, which must be aligned with current regulations, so that operating them does not represent a danger to the safety of citizens and the users.

This training lasted two days and included the participation of technical personnel specialized in UAS from the DGAC, the Military Geographic Institute, the Ecuadorian Air Force, the Fire Department of the Metropolitan District of Quito, representatives of training centers and operators.

This purpose was to present and exchange knowledge, experiences and proposals regarding UAS, such as; concepts and procedures for application, how to safely operate an Unmanned Aircraft; use of Unmanned Aircraft for mapping; use of unmanned aircraft in risk management and emergency response and UAS Operation and Certification Regulations.

In addition, an Unmanned Aircraft (drones) exhibition fair was held to learn about the services and equipment offered by the training centers. Demonstrative drone flight classes were also offered.

The event took place at the facilities of the DGAC Civil Aviation Technical School in Quito.
