The National Airlines Council of Canada (NACC), representing Canada’s largest air carriers (Air Canada, Air Transat, Jazz Aviation LP and WestJet), today announced that Howard Liebman, Vice President, Government Relations, Air Transat, has been appointed Chair of the NACC Board of Directors.

Mr. Liebman brings over two decades of government and aviation experience to this role.  “Driving progress that supports the growth and profound contributions of the aviation sector to the Canadian economy is of critical importance,” said Liebman. “Our goal is to continue to advance industry standards, promote policies that enhance competitiveness, and ensure a bright future for the aviation ecosystem, its workers and for travellers.”

As the outgoing Chair of the Board of Directors, NACC also extends its thanks to Andrew Gibbons, former Vice President, External Affairs at WestJet, for the leadership he brought to the organization.

In other changes, NACC also welcomed the appointment of Jacqui McGillivray, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer with WestJet, as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.

“I look forward to collaborating with industry leaders to address the challenges ahead and ensure a sustainable future for our sector,” said Jacqui McGillivray. “Air travel is essential to Canadians and together we strengthen our commitment to the vital role we play in connecting communities.”
