- CANSO has published the latest edition of the Standard of Excellence in Human Performance Management (HPM). This major update reflects the culmination of five years of successful implementation and testing, as well as insights from a comprehensive post-COVID survey into organisational human performance programs.
This updated framework provides air navigation service providers (ANSPs) with actionable guidance to assess, develop, and mature their human performance management programs. Unlike traditional approaches that often integrate human performance within safety management, this Standard emphasises the need for organisations to view human performance as a distinct, critical enabler of operational efficiency, adaptability, and resilience.
“Air traffic management is undergoing a transformation with the introduction of new technologies, automation, and evolving airspace users,” said Lea Sophie Vink, Chairwoman CANSO HPM Workgroup. “This updated Standard is a call to action for ANSPs to manage human performance proactively, ensuring their teams are prepared to meet these challenges head-on.”
Getting started is easier than ever, thanks to a streamlined assessment methodology and enhanced guidance tailored to organisations of all sizes. The document equips leaders with tools to pinpoint priorities, allocate resources, and map out a strategic path toward achieving operational excellence.
