The airports of the Aena Group (comprising the 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton Airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed the second month of 2025 with 24,537,134 passengers, 4.4% more than in the same month of 2024; they handled 223,083 aircraft movements, 4.7% more than in 2024; and they transported 111,790 tonnes of freight, 4.7% more than last year.
In cumulative terms up to February 2025, 49,536,918 passengers passed through Aena Group airports (5.3% more than in 2024); 445,779 aircraft movements were recorded (+4.2%); and 219,954 tonnes of freight were transported, 5.2% more than in the same period of 2024.
Aena airports in Spain
The airports of the Aena network in Spain closed February with 19,993,427 passengers, 4% more than in the same month of 2024; they handled 178,767 aircraft movements, 6.9% more than in 2024; and they transported 99,168 tonnes of freight, up 3.9% on last year.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in February with 4,820,733, growth of 2.3% compared with the same month last year. It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 3,754,942 (+2.8% compared with 2024); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 1,522,258 (+7%); Gran Canaria, with 1,332,678 (+0.7%); Tenerife Sur, with 1,244,951 (+2.2%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 1,166,789 (+16.4%) and Palma de Mallorca, with 1,057,450 passengers, an increase of 2.1% on February 2024.
In addition, a record number of passengers was recorded in a month of February in the Aena network as a whole and in 18 airports: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Valencia, Sevilla, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Menorca, Bilbao, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Ibiza, Melilla, Asturias and Ceuta Heliport.
In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in February was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 31,493 (+1.8% compared with 2024), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 24,417 flights (+3.5%); Gran Canaria, with 11,544 (-0.5%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 10,931 (+8%); Palma de Mallorca, with 9,212 (+1.7%); Tenerife Sur, with 8,144 (+4.7%) and Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 7,575 landings and take-offs (+18.9%).
The second month of 2025 was also the month of February with the highest number of overall operations in Aena and in 11 infrastructures: Málaga-Costa del Sol, Tenerife Sur, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Sevilla, Fuerteventura, Son Bonet, La Gomera, Logroño and El Hierro.
In terms of freight traffic, the second month of 2025 was the February with the highest total freight traffic to date in the Aena network in Spain. The airport with the highest freight volume was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 61,306 tonnes, 7% more than in the same month of 2024. This represents the month of February with the highest total commercial freight traffic in the history of the Madrid infrastructure. It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, which recorded 14,317 tonnes (-2.6%); Zaragoza, with 12,226 tonnes (+8%) and Vitoria, with 5,343 tonnes (-11.7%).
Up to the second month of 2025, 39,794,852 passengers have passed through Aena airports in Spain (5% more than in 2024); 353,255 aircraft movements were recorded (+6%); and 194,992 tonnes of freight were transported, 4.1% more than in the same period of 2024.
Aena Brasil Airports
The 17 airports of Aena Brasil reached 3,371,246 passengers in February, 6.7% more than in the same month of 2024. 35,018 aircraft movements were carried out, a decrease of 4.3% compared with the same month in 2024, and 10,282 tonnes of freight were transported, up 16.2% compared with the same month last year.
The group of six ANB airports(1) closed the month of February with 1,249,893 passengers (+3.6%). Recife Airport reached 752,616 passengers (+4.9%). There were 11,598 flights (-6.8%), of which Recife managed 6,754 (-7.5%). And 5,485 tonnes of freight were moved (+21.7%), of which 4,571 tonnes corresponded to Recife Airport (+22.9%).
The BOAB group of eleven airports(2) recorded 2,121,353 passengers in February (+8.6% over the same month of 2024). Among them, Congonhas Airport stands out with 1,805,633 passengers (+8.1%). A total of 23,420 flights were handled (-3%), of which 17,108 (-5.9%) were at São Paulo airport. And 4,797 tonnes of freight were transported (+10.4%). At Congonhas Airport in São Paulo, 4,156 tonnes were handled, 16.3% more than in the same month of the previous year.
Between January and February 2025, 7,441,764 passengers passed through Aena airports in Brazil (+5.8%); 74,049 aircraft movements were recorded (-3.8%); and 20,333 tonnes of freight were transported, 17.2% more than in the same period of 2024.
London Luton Airport
During the month of February, 1,172,461 passengers(3) passed through London Luton Airport’s London facilities, 4.2% more than in the same month of 2024. 9,298 aircraft movements were carried out (+0.8%) and 2,340 tonnes of freight(5) were transported, 1.9% less than in 2024.
Up to the second month of 2025, 2,300,302 passengers(3) were recorded (+7.8%), 18,475 aircraft movements were handled (+3.4%) and 4,628 tonnes of freight(4) were transported (+2.4%).
