  • American will offer five new routes to Cancun, Mexico (CUN), and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), this winter.
  • Customers looking to visit Hawaii’s spectacular volcanoes this winter can do so with convenient resuming service to Kona (KOA).
  • American will also extend the season of service on key routes to Europe.

Spring is here, but planning for next winter’s getaway is easier with American Airlines. Later this year, American will offer customers new routes to two popular destinations — Cancun, Mexico (CUN), and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), — and expand services on routes to Hawaii, South America and Europe.

“American’s comprehensive global network is designed to give customers more access to the destinations they want to visit,” said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “Together with new routes, more flights on popular routes and extended seasons to major destinations, American’s schedule is designed for travelers to get away to sun, sand and more next winter.”

More flights to more beaches than any other airline

This winter, American will operate more than 270 peak daily departures to popular beach destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America from the U.S. — more than any other airline.

Starting Nov. 8, American will be the first airline to launch international service from the state of Oklahoma with new service to Cancun, Mexico (CUN), from Oklahoma City (OKC).

American is the carrier of choice for customers heading to CUN. With more than 40 peak-day flights from 19 destinations starting in November, customers will find it easier to visit beaches, learn about new cultures and enjoy the delectable cuisine of Cancun and the Riviera Maya on American versus any other airline.

Recently, Punta Cana took the winning prize in American’s March Map-ness bracket with great fares and a special flash offer. Now, American is giving customers a buzzer beater finish to March with four new routes to the vacation hotspot starting Dec. 6. This winter, with more than 20 peak-day departures to 11 U.S. destinations from PUJ, it’s never too early to start planning the perfect getaway with American’s convenient flights.

Travel the world with American’s expanded network

Starting just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, American will expand service from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Hawaii with resuming service to Kona (KOA) and expanded service to Kahului (OGG). Complementing recently announced winter service between Chicago (ORD) and Honolulu (HNL), American will offer more than 15 daily flights between the continental U.S. and Hawaii.

American’s flights from DFW and ORD to Hawaii will offer customers nonstop access and premium cabins featuring lie-flat seats and more than 1,500 pieces of complimentary entertainment content on board. As American continues to elevate the onboard experience, customers flying in premium cabins this spring and summer can choose from newly refreshed dining options inspired by island flavors such as locally inspired chicken with jasmine rice, island surf and turf with truffle yaki sauce, vegetable curry with seared tofu and more.

American offers more daily flights between the U.S. and South America than any other airline and will grow its presence in popular vacation destinations this holiday season. Between December and January, American will offer up to four daily flights between Miami (MIA) and Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE), more than the airline has ever offered before.

In addition, American will offer up to 10 weekly flights between DFW and Sao Paulo (GRU), adding more than 40% more weekly flights on the route versus the past winter. From across the U.S., American will offer up to 10 daily flights to Brazil — more than any other airline.

Escaping on European vacations in the fall and winter means fewer crowds and unique seasonal experiences. To support continued customer interest in travel to Europe, American will extend seasonal summer service on select routes to Athens, Greece (ATH); Barcelona, Spain (BCN); and Dublin (DUB) this winter.

Connecting customers to American’s global network

American’s industry-leading domestic network will continue to grow with new routes to Iowa and Arkansas starting this fall. Launching Oct. 6, American will offer the only nonstop service from Los Angeles (LAX) to Des Moines, Iowa (DSM), and from Phoenix (PHX) to Little Rock, Arkansas (LIT). These new routes will offer connections over American’s western hubs — LAX and PHX — to new destinations this winter in the western U.S., Mexico, Australia, Japan and more.

Winter vacations come in all forms of activities, from building sandcastles on the beach to skiing new and familiar slopes. For travelers looking at a ski vacation in Colorado, American will make the journey more convenient with new seasonal service between Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT), and Aspen, Colorado (ASE), launching Dec. 19. Complementing existing flights between CLT and Denver (DEN), this will be American’s first-ever nonstop to ASE from CLT, providing a new connection to one of the most popular outdoor winter destinations.
