Delta’s presence at Austin-Bergstrom (AUS) continues to expand, and this time the airline is going international. This winter, Delta will operate its new nonstop, international service from AUS to the sun-drenched shores of Cancun, Mexico (CUN). This daily, seasonal service will begin shortly before Christmas on Dec. 20 and will run until mid-April 2026.
“Delta is the leading global network carrier at Austin-Bergstrom, operating nearly 60 peak day departures this winter,” said Paul Baldoni, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “This new service to Cancun adds yet another popular leisure destination for our Austin customers.”
This flight will operate on Delta’s Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with First Class, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin. SkyMiles Members traveling onboard this aircraft will also have access to fast, free Wi-Fi onboard. Together with seat back in-flight entertainment, this aircraft is perfect customers who want to sit back and relax and enjoy 1,000+ hours of entertainment content.
More opportunities for leisure and business escapes
In addition to this new route to Cancun, Delta will also increase service between Austin and Orlando (MCO) to twice daily during the peak winter travel season. This now offers Austin customers both morning and afternoon flight options.
Customers don’t have to wait until next winter to start enjoying Delta’s expansive network from Austin. New twice daily service to New Orleans started on Thursday (February 27), and new daily nonstop service to Panama City, Florida (ECP) will begin in March 2025. Delta also recently announced new service to Jacksonville (JAX), Indianapolis (IND) and Memphis (MEM) beginning in May 2025 and San Francisco (SFO) and Tampa (TPA) beginning in June 2025.
With these additional routes, Delta’s departures at AUS will be up more than 35% year-over-year. This continued growth builds on Delta’s commitment to being the airline of choice for customers traveling to and from the Texas capital.
Customers in Austin also have the benefit of one of the network’s most popular Delta Sky Clubs. Opened in 2019, the Club features unique Texas touches: a pewter rhinestone cowboy boot sculpture, artwork with the iconic “Keep Austin Weird” slogan, and a premium beverage menu that’s heavy on the tequilas and mezcals. For the last three years, AUS Delta Sky Club has ranked highest in customer satisfaction for the Southern region.
Delta positioned Austin as a key gateway to facilitate connections to its expansive network, and with nonstop flights to all of Delta’s major hubs, customers from the Austin region are just one connection or less away from destinations across the globe. Through partnerships with KLM and Aeromexico, Delta can offer customers nonstop service to Amsterdam (AMS) and Mexico City (MEX) multiple times throughout the week.
