  • Flights between Lisbon and the capital of Rio Grande do Sul operate three times a week.
  • This marks the resumption of connections to Porto Alegre after the heavy rains of May 2024.

TAP has resumed flights between Lisbon and Porto Alegre three times a week, operated with the modern A330-900 neo aircraft, with capacity for 298 passengers.

With the refurbishment of the runway at Salgado Filho Airport, which has been reopened to air traffic since October, flights between Lisbon and Porto Alegre will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing from the Portuguese capital at 13h05 and arriving in Porto Alegre at 20h25. With a total duration of 11h20, this is one of the longest flights on the TAP network of destinations. In the opposite direction, the TAP flight departs from the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul at 21h55, arriving at Lisbon airport at 12h45.

Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP, says he is “very happy to have come on board this flight that marks TAP’s return to Porto Alegre. We had promised that we would make every effort to get this route operating again as soon as possible. Here we are, ready to reconnect this state to Europe. May this route symbolise a new future for Porto Alegre and for TAP.”

The Governor of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, believes that “the resumption of direct flights between Porto Alegre and Lisbon is a symbol of the resilience and reconstruction of Rio Grande do Sul. After facing one of the most challenging times in our history, seeing our capital once again connected directly to Europe demonstrates the world’s confidence in our recovery. This route strengthens our historical and cultural ties with Portugal and also opens up new opportunities for tourism and international business, in line with the guidelines of our Economic Development Plan. I thank TAP for their trust in our state.”
