Grupo Aeroméxico has published its 2024 Sustainability Report, marking a milestone year as the airline celebrates 90 years of operation. The report outlines the company’s progress made on its path to 2050, guided by three fundamental pillars: World (environmental), People (social), and Extraordinary Business (governance).
Key highlights from the 2024 report include:
Expansion and operational leadership
Aeromexico was recognized as the most punctual global airline in 2024 by the consulting firm Cirium, operating more than 195 thousand flights representing 99.89% of its scheduled services, 86.7% arriving on time.
The company also recorded a 15% expansion in its international network thanks to the resumption of operations to Seoul, increased frequencies to Europe, and the opening of 27 new routes to the United States.
Commitment to a sustainable aviation
In environmental matters, the company achieved a 10% reduction in emissions compared to 2019, thanks to the fact that 54% of its fleet consists of new-generation aircraft, which positively impacts its operational efficiency. In addition, the company used over 323 thousand liters of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), moving forward to its goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
Furthermore, the airline purchased 52,500 tons of carbon credits through the CORSIA program and implemented operational efficiency measures across its fleet to avoid generating more than 39 thousand tons of CO2.
Inclusion and Social Impact
In the social pillar, the airline continued to enhance its efforts to prevent human trafficking by hosting the itinerant exhibition “Destination: Liberty”, which welcomed over 200,000 visitors at the Mexico City International Airport and the Museum of Memory and Tolerance.
In addition, through its Specific Attention Program, the company is implementing initiatives to further improve the travel experiences of people with disabilities and senior adults.
Innovation and customer experience
In 2024, the company achieved a Net Promoter Score (NPS), a customer satisfaction indicator, of 43.21, the highest score in its history; it also surpassed 12 million members in its Aeromexico Rewards program and major upgrades were completed to its mobile app.
To enhance efficiency and reduce its digital footprint, 45% of the company’s applications were migrated to the cloud. Thanks to its cyber security strategy, critical vulnerabilities were reduced to zero, and the protection of personal data was enhanced. It also became the first airline in Latin America to offer Bluetooth audio connectivity onboard.
Governance
Aeroméxico has implemented a solid ethics and compliance framework, which includes more than 28,000 certifications issued and a robust corporate governance system, backed by its Code of Conduct.
As part of this initiative, 138 suppliers were assessed based on sustainability criteria to strengthen transparency and integrity throughout its value chain.
CEO Andrés Conesa highlighted that 2024 was a year of historic achievements for Aeroméxico, consolidating its position as a global benchmark in the aviation industry. He also emphasized that innovation has been a key factor in the company’s evolution and reaffirmed the commitment to ensure that all strategic decisions remain aligned with sustainability goals.
