“Fly as you are”
  • The float will be attended by fifty employees, including ambassadors of the company’s Diversity Plan.

This year, for the first time in its history, Iberia will participate in the LGBTQ+ Pride parade, which will take place on July 5 in downtown Madrid. It will do so with a large float decorated in rainbow colors as a horizon, inspired by the campaign created especially for this occasion under the slogan “Fly as you are.”

“Flying symbolizes movement, openness, and new opportunities. Flying is a declaration of freedom and authenticity. Furthermore, flying invites each person to feel free to be who they are, and that is what we sought to convey with this campaign. At Iberia, we believe in a world where all identities have a place. That’s why every flight is also a space for respect, pride, and visibility. Because flying is also about celebrating diversity,” says Gemma Juncá, Iberia’s Marketing and Brand Director.

The float, with a capacity for 50 people, will be occupied by Iberia employees selected through an internal competition in which they shared, through videos and photographs, what the campaign’s message, “Fly as you are,” means to them. They will also be joined by some of the company’s Diversity Plan ambassadors.

This group, made up of more than 200 people from all hierarchical levels and areas of the airline, has the mission of promoting inclusion within the organization. Its functions include raising awareness, identifying barriers, proposing ideas, and promoting inclusive work environments. In addition, they act as communication links between the workforce and the reality of the various groups within the company. All of them are recognized with a distinctive pin, which gives them visibility in the various work centers.

In addition, three of these Diversity Plan ambassadors—a pilot, a flight attendant, and an MRO employee—will share their experiences and what the “Fly as You Are” concept means to them on June 27th through a video posted on Iberia’s social media.

This year, Iberia is also the official airline of Madrid Pride 2025, so the company’s image will be present at all events, thus demonstrating its commitment to diversity.

Pride in the Air

Customers traveling aboard Iberia aircraft these days will be able to purchase a heart-shaped cookie, handmade by Do&Co, the airline’s regular catering provider, decorated with the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag. It will be available for purchase in Economy Class on short- and medium-haul flights.

Additionally, customers flying in Business class on June 28th, International Pride Day, will receive a replica of this heart-shaped cookie along with their coffee. This special service will be available on arrivals in Madrid on all short- and medium-haul flights.

Also starting that day, passengers on European flights will receive stickers upon arrival in Madrid with the slogan “Fly as you are.”

VIP Lounges with Pride

Iberia’s Dalí and Velázquez Premium Lounges in Terminal 4 of Madrid Airport will also join the celebration with a special dessert, a cake in the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag, which will be available to customers at the buffet.

Additionally, and thanks to the collaboration of Coca-Cola, guests of these lounges will be able to enjoy the Pride Tonic Cocktail, made for the occasion with gin, violet syrup, and cranberries.

Inflight Entertainment

The inflight entertainment system available on all Iberia long-haul flights offers a special film category entitled Celebrating with Pride, featuring 24 representative films of LGBTQ+ Pride, such as Emilia Pérez, I’m Loving You Madly, and Queer, among others.

Visibility on social media and in the street

Since June 1, Iberia has changed its image on social media, creating an exclusive visual identity for Pride 2024, featuring the colors of the LGBTQ+ flag and the concept “Fly as you are.” In addition, a video featuring testimonials from Iberia employees will be released on the company’s social media channels this week, sharing what has made them fly as they are in their lives.

The campaign is complemented by a circuit of billboards in the Community of Madrid and animated advertising in the tunnels of lines 8 and 10 of the capital’s metro.
