José Ignacio Dougnac, who has been the CEO of Sky Airline since 2019, will leave his position after a rising career at the Chilean low-cost airline. Previously, the senior executive had served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), which led him to remain linked to it for over a decade. Dougnac will step down from his current responsibilities later this month and will reportedly retain an advisory role to the airline’s Board of Directors.
Among the milestones that stand out from his six-year tenure at the head of Sky Airline, Dougnac is recognized as someone who was able to maximise the positioning of the brand, increase the number of passengers, substantially renew the fleet, confront the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic quite successfully and expand the airline’s route network of destinations, especially the international ones.
On the reasons for modifying the company’s leadership structure at this point, it has been pointed out that this change responds to a consensual decision between Dougnac himself and the Board of Directors of SKY Airline.
Once he leaves the CEO position, he will be succeeded by Daniel Belaunde, a Peruvian economist and businessman, who is expected to further develop the airline’s long-term objectives, especially those that relate to operational challenges and customer service strategies.
