Aena Airports in Spain
The airports of the Aena network in Spain closed September with 30,406,145 passengers, 2.5% more than in the same month in 2024; they handled 249,904 aircraft movements, 4.1% more than in 2024; and they transported 118,549 tonnes of freight, up 9% on September of last year.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport recorded the highest number of passengers in September with 5,922,644, a growth of 1.2% compared to the same month in 2024. This is followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 5,279,003 (+4.3% compared to 2024); Palma de Mallorca, with 4,113,337 (+0.9%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 2,626,561 (+5%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 1,907,274 (+5.9%); Ibiza, with 1,227,406 (+0.6%); Gran Canaria, with 1,186,060 (+6.2%); and Valencia, with 1,071,198 (+1.2%).
It was also the best month of September in terms of passenger numbers both within the network as a whole and at 17 airports: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Valencia, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Sevilla, Bilbao, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Fuerteventura, La Palma, Melilla, La Gomera, and the heliport of Ceuta.
In terms of operations, the airport with the most movements in September was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with a total of 36,639 (+0.5% compared to 2024), followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 32,402 flights (+2.3%); Palma de Mallorca, with 28,219 (+0.1%); Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 17,656 (+4.5%); Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, with 11,691 (+4.7%); Gran Canaria, with 10,920 (+3,2%); and Ibiza, with 10,509 landings and take-offs (+5%).
In September 2025, Federico García Granada-Jaén Airport has recorded an all-time high with regard to operations. It was also the best September at 18 infrastructures: Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Sevilla, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Tenerife Norte-Ciudad de La Laguna, Menorca, Fuerteventura, Jerez, Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén, Melilla, Logroño, Son Bonet and Madrid-Cuatro Vientos.
With regard to freight traffic, in September 2025, the airport with the highest cargo volume was Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 71,859 tonnes, 10.4% more than in September 2024. It was followed by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, which recorded 17,436 tonnes (+18.5%); Zaragoza, with 16,468 tonnes (-2%) and Vitoria, with 5,819 tonnes (+2.1%). It was the best month of September in terms of cargo within the network as a whole, as well as at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airports.
Between January and September 2025, 247,101,409 passengers have passed through Aena airports in Spain (3.9% more than in 2024); 2,061,078 aircraft movements were handled (4.2%); and 980,804 tonnes of freight were transported, 6.1% more than in the first nine months of the previous year.
Aena Brasil Airports
The 17 airports of Aena Brasil reached 3,764,649 passengers in September, 4.1% more than in the same month of 2024. 37,120 aircraft movements were carried out, a decrease of 7.3% compared to the same month in 2024, and 11,828 tonnes of freight were transported, up 23.8% compared to the same month last year.
The group of six ANB airports (1) closed the month of September with 1,384,487 passengers (+7.5%). Recife Airport reached 822,533 passengers (+5.6%). There were 12,208 flights (-6.3%), of which Recife managed 6,911 (-9.3%). And 6,252 tonnes of freight were moved (+26.9%), of which 4,862 tonnes corresponded to Recife Airport (+19.9%).
The BOAB group of eleven airports (2) recorded 2,380,162 passengers in September (+2.2% over the same month in 2024). Among them, Congonhas Airport stands out with 2,020,539 passengers (+3.4%). A total of 24,912 flights were handled (-7.8%), of which 17,794 (-7.5%) were at São Paulo Airport. And 5,575 tonnes of freight (+20.5%) were transported; 4,853 tonnes were handled at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo; 31% more than in the same month of the previous year.
Between January and September 2025, 33,579,514 passengers passed through Aena airports in Brazil (+5.4%); 335,055 operations were recorded (-7.5%); and 96,941 tonnes of freight were transported, 18.9% more than in the same period in 2024.
London Luton Airport
During the month of September, 1,590,058 passengers (3) were recorded at London Luton Airport, 3.3% more than in the same month in 2024. 12,268 aircraft movements were handled (+1.7%) and 2,528 tonnes of freight(4) were transported, 2.9% less than in 2024.
Between January and September 2025, 13,445,256 passengers (3) were recorded (+4.8%), 102,989 aircraft movements were handled (+2%) and 22,445 tonnes of freight (4) were transported (-3.3%).
