Since Sunday (October 5), Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago is hosting the 2025 edition of the Annual Assembly and Conference of the Airports Council International – Latin America and Caribbean (ACI-LAC), the leading event for the airport market in the region.

Promoting Innovation and Sustainability

As is tradition at the Annual Assembly Conference and Exhibition of ACI-LAC, ACI-LAC is presenting the Green Airport Recognition, honoring member airports that, throughout the year, have promoted or implemented solutions related to climate change adaptation, ecosystem restoration, and carbon capture mechanisms. This initiative is coordinated by the ACI-LAC Environment and Sustainability Committee.

The 2025 edition spotlights young talents who are part of the teams at ACI-LAC member airports and contribute innovations to the airport industry. This year, the Young Professional Award is to recognize an initiative that promotes a cybersecurity culture within the airport ecosystem. The award is sponsored by SITA, a World Business Partner (WBP) of ACI-LAC.

Special Focus on the Caribbean

This year’s ACI-LAC Conference, held in Trinidad and Tobago, is dedicating part of its discussions to the dynamics and challenges of aviation in the Caribbean. Highlights of the program include the Caribbean Leaders Panel: Shaping the Region’s Future Together. Both sessions aim to bring together authorities and industry leaders to discuss strategic policies for connectivity, regional integration, and the sustainable development of the sector.

ACI-LAC Director General Rafael Echevarne emphasized the importance of this gathering as a valuable platform for exchanging ideas, best practices, and solutions to shared challenges:

“Each year, we aim to spotlight the issues that reflect the daily realities of our members and the regional airport sector. This year in Trinidad and Tobago, we are focusing on the unique challenges faced by island members, with the goal of enhancing their competitiveness, connectivity, and growth potential. That’s why we believe our conference remains a vital space for dialogue that reinforces the Caribbean’s role as a key player in strengthening aviation and tourism.”
