- The agreement between IAG and Starlink will enable the airline to provide high-speed connectivity on all its flights, both long and short haul
- This new satellite-based connectivity system offers a home-like internet experience, uninterrupted worldwide and free for all cabins: economy, premium economy, and business.
Iberia is set to offer all its customers a new and improved onboard connectivity system. IAG, the airline’s parent group, has just signed a strategic alliance with Starlink, the world’s leading satellite internet provider developed by SpaceX.
Thanks to this agreement, Iberia will offer high-speed WiFi service on all its flights, both long and short haul. The service will be free for all customers—economy, premium economy, and business—and represents a major leap forward in the onboard experience, allowing passengers to stay connected throughout the flight.
This initiative, which will begin implementation in 2026, will allow Iberia customers to enjoy an onboard internet experience similar to what they have at home.
Thanks to Starlink’s advanced technology, Iberia´s customers will have access to high-speed internet anywhere on the planet, even in areas without coverage such as the poles. This breakthrough ensures that Iberia customers can remain connected throughout the flight, regardless of route or destination.
Starlink’s technology, based on a network of thousands of low-Earth orbit satellites, will offer download speeds of up to 450 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 70 Mbps, enabling access to streaming entertainment platforms, cloud-based work, online gaming, and many other possibilities.
Innovation, a Pillar of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030
The agreement between IAG and Starlink reinforces the airline group’s commitment to innovation and technology—key pillars of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030. This alliance will enable high-speed connectivity and enhance the customer experience from boarding to landing.
Aligned with its strategy, Iberia will allocate a significant portion of the €6 billion investment outlined in Flight Plan 2030 to initiatives that drive digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the creation of Ciudad Iberia, a cutting-edge aeronautical innovation hub. With this, the company moves toward a more connected, efficient, and sustainable future, consolidating its leadership in European aviation.
