- ACI‑LAC held the ACI Airport Day AIFA at the Holiday Inn Mexico Felipe Ángeles Airport Hotel, an event that brought together representatives of the Mexican airport sector, as well as government authorities, experts, and international organizations.
The Airports Council International – Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) held the ACI Airport Day AIFA at the Holiday Inn Mexico Felipe Ángeles Airport Hotel, bringing together representatives of the Mexican airport sector, government authorities, experts, and international organizations.
With the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) as host, the event offered an agenda focused on the main challenges and opportunities of the industry. The central theme was airport facilitation and its impact on passenger experience, safety, and operational efficiency. Key topics also included institutional cooperation, airport accessibility, and the role of technology in modernizing the sector.
The program opened with remarks from Dr. Isidoro Pastor Román, Director General of AIFA, who highlighted the achievements and progress of Felipe Ángeles International Airport, including the strengthening of national and international air connectivity and the growth in passenger satisfaction. His address was followed by interventions from Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC; Emilio Avendaño García, head of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC); and Julio Siu, Deputy Regional Director of ICAO’s NACC Office
During the panels, leaders and representatives from OMA, ASUR, GAP, AME, Querétaro International Airport, ICAO NACC, Fundación Teletón, Thales, and Amadeus shared perspectives on facilitation as an essential element for airport efficiency, as well as on inter-institutional coordination, passenger experience improvements, advances in airport inclusion, and technological innovations transforming passenger and cargo processes in Latin America.
“The ACI Airport Day AIFA reflects the commitment of the Mexican and regional airport sector to facilitation, innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence. These spaces strengthen our ability to discuss challenges and seize opportunities that drive sustainable aviation growth in the region,” said Dr. Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC.
ACI-LAC acknowledged the support of AIFA and all participants, emphasizing the importance of continuing to promote technical exchange and cooperation to strengthen the competitiveness of the air transport sector in Mexico and the region, especially in facilitation.
