Airports Council International – Latin America and Caribbean (ACI-LAC) is pleased to announce that 11 airports operated by Aena Brasil in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Pará have just received Level 1 certification under the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program.

This level is awarded to airports that map their carbon footprint, identify emission sources, and calculate annual emissions. The certified terminals are: Congonhas International Airport (SP), Campo Grande International Airport (MS), Uberlândia International Airport (MG), Santarém International Airport (PA), Corumbá International Airport (MS), Ponta Porã International Airport (MS), Altamira Interstate Airport (PA), Marabá Airport (PA), Montes Claros Airport (MG), Carajás Airport (PA), and Uberaba Airport (MG).

In April 2025, six airports operated by Aena Brasil in the Northeast had already obtained Level 1 certification under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. Now, all 17 airports under the concessionaire’s operation in Brazil are certified by ACI, consolidating a trajectory of maturity and consistency in environmental management practices.

“ACA Level 1 certification at Aena’s airports in Brazil reflects our commitment to sustainability and climate management. In just over two years since assuming operations, we have structured processes and indicators that allow us to accurately measure carbon emissions and chart pathways to reduce them. This demonstrates leadership and alignment with international best practices. We continue advancing our work to achieve higher levels,” said Filipe Reis, Director of Communications, Institutional Relations, and ESG at Aena Brasil.

The full participation of Aena Brasil’s airport network in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program is part of the operator’s Climate Action Plan (PAC), which foresees investments of more than R0 million in the coming years in areas such as replacing the internal fleet with clean-energy vehicles. Aena Brasil’s goal is that the gradual fulfillment of these targets will drive progress toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2035 and Net Zero (own emissions) by 2040.

Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC, celebrated Aena Brasil’s achievement:“It is a source of great pride to see Aena Brasil achieve certification for 11 more airports under the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. This accomplishment, part of the company’s climate action plan, ensures that 100% of its airports in Brazil are now certified, reinforcing a responsible stance in the face of climate change challenges. It is a significant step that strengthens the sustainable development of the airport industry in Latin America and the Caribbean. As one of the global sector’s leading players, Aena reaffirms its leadership and inspires the entire region to move toward a more innovative, resilient, and future-committed aviation industry.”
