Iberia has planned the largest summer capacity in its history for the upcoming season, which begins on 29 March. In total, the airline will offer 21,420,165 seats. Capacity is increasing across almost all markets, with particularly strong growth in the United States, Canada and Latin America.
In Spain and across Europe alone, Iberia will offer 15,998,692 seats. New additions include two new European destinations: Bucharest and Tivat.
The United States and Canada account for the largest increase in capacity compared to last summer. In total, Iberia will offer 1,280,254 seats, representing a 19.02% increase versus the same period last year.
In Latin America, capacity will reach 3,354,159 seats, up 7.6%, further strengthening Iberia’s leading position connecting the region with Europe.
This programme is complemented by nearly 800,000 additional seats across Iberia’s network in Africa and Asia, completing one of the airline’s most ambitious summer schedules.
This growth comes as part of Iberia’s Flight Plan 2030 and is supported by the recent addition of new long-haul aircraft, including six A321XLR and one A350-900.
United States and Canada
In North America, Toronto will be one of Iberia’s key milestones this summer as it joins the airline’s network as a new destination. From 13 June, Iberia will operate five weekly flights between Madrid and Toronto Pearson, offering a total of 34,576 seats through to the end of the season.
In the United States, Iberia is focusing its growth on its core markets. New York will be a key hub, with the addition from 29 March of a new daily flight to Newark, complementing the two daily services to JFK. The Newark service is particularly aimed at corporate travellers, offering more direct access to Manhattan’s financial district and reducing travel times for short business trips. As a result, Iberia will operate three daily frequencies between Madrid and New York, reaching 352,055 seats, a 43% increase compared to last summer.
This will also be the first full summer season for Iberia’s Orlando route, launched in October 2025, with three weekly frequencies and a total of 51,856 seats.
The programme is completed with two daily flights to Boston thanks to the incorporation of the A321XLR, as well as Miami; and one daily flight to Dallas, Chicago and Washington. Los Angeles will offer up to one daily flight during June, July and August, while San Francisco will operate three weekly frequencies.
Latin America
Once again, Latin America will play a central role in Iberia’s strategy for the upcoming summer season. Capacity between the region and Europe will increase significantly to 3,354,159 seats, representing a 7.6% rise compared to the previous summer.
Key additions include new routes to Recife and Fortaleza in Brazil, as well as Monterrey in Mexico, which will begin operations on 2 June with three weekly frequencies.
Argentina will also see significant growth, with services to Buenos Aires increasing to up to 23 weekly frequencies during June, July and August, compared to the current 21. This will make it Iberia’s first long-haul destination to exceed three daily flights. Buenos Aires will offer 456,000 seats, a 12% increase versus last summer.
Capacity will also grow in other markets, with Brazil up 15%, the Dominican Republic up 21%, and Chile up 7%. Puerto Rico will also increase to between 10 and 12 weekly frequencies.
Europe: new routes
Iberia continues to strengthen its European network this summer with the addition of two new routes: Bucharest (Romania) and Tivat (Montenegro).
Bucharest will be served with two weekly frequencies (Wednesdays and Sundays) from 3 June to 30 September 2026. Tivat will operate twice weekly between 18 July and 15 September.
These additions complement Iberia’s established seasonal routes. Croatia will once again be a key destination, with Dubrovnik operating from April to October with up to 14 weekly frequencies. Zagreb and Split will also return, each with up to nine weekly frequencies.
The airline will also resume services to Italian and Greek islands. In Italy, flights to Catania will restart in April with up to eight weekly frequencies, and Palermo will operate between July and September with up to three weekly flights. Services to Sardinia will include Olbia (up to five weekly flights) and Cagliari (up to three).
In Greece, Iberia will operate flights to Corfu and Mykonos (up to seven weekly frequencies) and Santorini (up to six), between June and September.
Additionally, Iberia will resume summer services to Funchal (Madeira), with up to five weekly frequencies; Ponta Delgada (Azores), with three; Tirana (Albania), with three; and Ljubljana (Slovenia), with two weekly flights. Ljubljana’s operating period will also be extended from June through September.
Further capacity increases are planned across key European destinations:
- Athens: up to 16 weekly flights in April, May and October, four more than last summer; up to 29 weekly flights in August
- Milan: two additional weekly frequencies, reaching 44 weekly flights throughout the summer
- Nice: three additional weekly frequencies, reaching 24 weekly flights during the summer season
