Southwest Airlines Co. is putting its Heart into action as it gives back to the greater Denver area in recognition of Colorado Gives Day, the state’s single largest day of giving. In the spirit of the giving season, the airline is donating more than $250,000 in domestic roundtrip air travel and monetary support to four organizations focused on improving the lives of Coloradoans: Amp the Cause, Latin American Education Foundation, SistahBiz, and Minds Matter Colorado. Each organization is receiving $65,000 in domestic roundtrip air travel and cash donations to continue its mission-driven work that creates meaningful change across the Denver region.
“We love putting our Mile High Heart into action to serve our community and to make Colorado a better place for all,” said Lexi Muller, Community Outreach Lead for Southwest Airlines in Colorado. “We believe collaboration can advance our social impact which is why we partner with like-minded people and organizations to promote resilience and to strengthen our communities.”
During Southwest’s more than 15 years of service in Denver, the airline has invested nearly $8 million through travel and cash contributions to nearly 2,500 organizations throughout the state. Additionally, the airline’s Colorado-based Employees have volunteered more than 62,000 hours for 1,600 organizations since 2006.
Celebrate with Free Ice Skating All Day on Colorado Gives Day
To celebrate Colorado Gives Day and highlight the airline’s Mile High Heart, Southwest is inviting everyone to visit the Downtown Denver Rink to receive complimentary skate rentals all day. Southwest, and its community partners Amp the Cause, Latin American Education Foundation, SistahBiz, and Minds Matter Colorado, will be at the ice rink between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. (MST) this afternoon to show skaters Southwest’s famous Hospitality, surprising them with special treats and fun surprises.
