“We are pleased to welcome Condor to YEG and be part of this exciting non-stop connection to Frankfurt. Connecting with international hubs is an important step in restimulating the economy, and this new flight will help to propel and diversify both business and leisure travel and provide direct cargo access for Canadians and Europeans. We look forward to working alongside our partners in the region and with Condor to connect more businesses, travellers, friends and families together.”

  • Myron Keehn, Vice President, Air Service and Business Development, Edmonton International Airport

“With the additional long-haul destination, we offer our guests an even greater choice of direct connections to their vacations and strengthen our presence in North America. Many other destinations in Canada are also accessible via our cooperation partner WestJet.”

  • Ralf Teckentrup, CEO, Condor

With the addition of Edmonton, the fifth largest city in Canada with a population of over 1.4 million inhabitants, Condor’s Canada service expands to a total of five destinations: In addition to Edmonton, Germany’s most popular leisure airline also serves Toronto, Vancouver, Whitehorse and Halifax.

“Edmonton International Airport is the gateway to the Prairies and the North. With this investment, local businesses and communities are now more accessible to partners and investors from Germany and around the globe. This direct connection to one of the world’s largest logistics hubs will encourage more visitors to come to Edmonton, provide Alberta businesses with new opportunities, and further cement Edmonton as an international destination for travel and commerce.”

  • The Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, Government of Canada

“This is a great win for Alberta’s economy that will encourage new visitors to the province while connecting Alberta businesses to new markets. We have world-class attractions and experiences in our province and tremendous opportunities. Each is now more accessible to global travellers, deal makers, and job creators. I’d like to congratulate Edmonton International Airport and Condor for making this important route between Frankfurt and the Edmonton region a reality.”

  • Martin Long, Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Tourism, Government of Alberta

  • Malcolm Bruce, CEO, Edmonton Global

“The addition of this Condor flight is exciting news for Edmontonians looking to travel, but also for our tourism industry. Germany is Edmonton’s second largest European market and European visitors are a big segment of our long-haul, international visitor makeup. This flight will help Explore Edmonton attract more high-spend visitors from Germany, and Europe, that will stay longer and spend more time discovering Edmonton, our region, Jasper, and Northern Alberta. Explore Edmonton will work closely with Condor and its travel trade partners to deliver world-class itineraries and experiences that will also give our economy a significant boost. The German market is already showing positive signs of recovery and we are excited to welcome back our German and European friends.”

  • Traci Bednard, President & CEO, Explore Edmonton

Edmonton will welcome Condor’s travellers to explore the many opportunities the region has to offer, including the largest stretch of urban parkland in North America: the North Saskatchewan River Valley, which is steps from Edmonton’s downtown core. In addition to Edmonton’s many festivals, European visitors will have the opportunity to indulge in a wide range of cultural activities, shopping experiences and a vibrant culinary scene. Travellers to Edmonton can also experience authentic Indigenous experiences, such as Fort Edmonton Park and their new Indigenous Peoples Experience, as well as Métis Crossing near Edmonton.

As the gateway to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and Canada’s North, Edmonton visitors will also have easy access to several national parks, including Elk Island National Park and Jasper National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site. The natural landscapes and breathtaking views invite visitors to explore endless hiking trails, wildlife experiences and world-famous camping.

For those in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, this seasonal route offers another great option to explore Europe through Frankfurt’s well-connected global hub. Travellers will have the opportunity to learn more about German culture, history and lifestyle, as well as access to Frankfurt’s major business centre. Furthermore, the route will provide efficient cargo access for the movement of goods between continental Europe and Alberta, the Canadian Prairies and Canada’s North.
