Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and Rum & Humble are proud to announce the Fall-Winter 2022 season of LAX Presents, a cultural performance series staged in locations across domestic and international terminals at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This season’s program runs from August through December and showcases multicultural artists with diverse musical influences.
“Los Angeles is one of the world’s most culturally rich cities, and we are excited to have this diverse group of performers share their musical talents and worldly influences at our airport,” said Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer, LAWA. “It’s wonderful to hear the sounds of lively music filling our terminal spaces and to see how music brings together our guests, employees and partners who all enjoy these special performances.”
This is LAWA’s fifth season of LAX Presents, and the third season presented in collaboration with Rum & Humble, a Los Angeles-based concert production company. The Fall-Winter series includes 11 performance days that will feature a diverse set of musical artists including an accordionist who blends French and Chinese for an international sound, a violinist who can execute a variety of styles on both the acoustic and electric violin, a singer-songwriter with strong roots in soul, an internationally known Malian musician, and a brass ensemble known as Brass Connection, featuring faculty from the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles.
The series begins next week in Terminal 7 with Xocoyotzin Moraza, who performs folk-style music known as Son Jarocho from Veracruz, Mexico. He has been performing in the Son Jarocho style for more than four decades and specializes in the performance of the requinto jarocho, a plucked string instrument. He also plays the Veracruz harp and the jarana jarocha, a guitar-shaped, fretted string instrument. He will perform in Terminal 7 on Tuesday, Aug. 16, and Wednesday, Aug. 17, at noon and 1 p.m. each day.
