The International Aviation Womens Association (IAWA), a worldwide organization for women who hold leadership positions across the entire spectrum of the aviation and aerospace industry, is holding their 34th annual conference this week, November 9 – 11, 2022 at the Epic Sana Lisbon hotel in Portugal.

This year’s conference theme is A Way Forward – Aviation Through a Sustainability Lens. It will explore what is coming in the world of aviation and sustainability, and how IAWA members can help champion A Way Forward.

The Conference sessions include panels with leading industry experts discussing topics such as Aerospace Sustainable Growth, Geopolitical and Government Policy Impacts on Aviation, Exploring the New Aviation Frontier of Urban Air Mobility, and the State of the Industry. There will also be special workshops on Career Guidance – From Protégée to Mentor, Talent Imbalance: Aviation’s Urgency to Achieve Gender Parity Post-COVID, and a Lawyers’ Roundtable: A candid discussion about how IAWA connections and platform can advance our professional goals.

In addition to the conference sessions, there will be multiple opportunities to build and extend professional networks with key industry contacts, including meetings with IAWA’s Board, scholarship award presentations and industry education via a local trip to OGMA, an aerospace company focused on aircraft maintenance and manufacturing. The IAWA Conference Gala Reception and Awards Gala Dinner will take place at the National Coach Museum, which has one of the finest collections of historical carriages in the world.
