The Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA) and the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) issued the following joint statement after Air Canada pilots voted to merge with ALPA. With 91.6 percent of eligible Air Canada pilots participating, 84.2 percent voted in favor of the merger.

“Air Canada pilots voted overwhelmingly to approve a merger with ALPA, making clear they believe that we are stronger together. With this historic vote, Air Canada pilots have signaled, unequivocally, they want to join the world’s largest pilots union in negotiating strong contracts, establishing better working conditions, and advancing aviation safety.”

The final step in the merger process will be on May 17 when ALPA’s Executive Board will vote to ratify the agreement. If passed, the representation rights will transfer from ACPA to ALPA, and the parties will apply to CIRB for a declaration endorsing the transfer.
