Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) is pleased to announce the incorporation of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) of Guatemala as a new airport member. An important milestone for Guatemala, as the entity aims to further improve civil aviation in the country and provide its citizens and visitors with a high quality travel experience.
As a government entity focused on the development of civil aviation, Guatemala’s DGAC is responsible for managing the operations of the country’s two most important international airports: La Aurora International Airport and Mundo Maya International Airport along with a passenger traffic of 3,432,022.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation seeks to promote standards and practices of excellence in all aspects of aviation, ensuring that operations are carried out safely, efficiently and respecting the environment, in collaboration with airlines, ground handling providers and other entities involved.
“We are excited about Guatemala joining ACI-LAC. The collaboration will allow the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to access valuable information and best practices from other airports and to participate in regional initiatives that will be key to boosting aviation in our country,” said Francis Argueta, Director General of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Guatemala. “In this new stage of collaboration, we look forward to taking advantage of training and capacity building opportunities, and addressing common challenges faced by airports globally through the ACI-LAC committees.”
“We are pleased to welcome the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Guatemala to ACI-LAC. Their addition will strengthen our network of airports and allow us to continue to drive standards of excellence in aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Dr. Rafael Echevarne, Director General of ACI-LAC. “We are very excited to work together with the DGAC of Guatemala to improve the efficiency, safety and quality of airport services in the country, share best practices and knowledge that will benefit the entire aviation industry in the region.”
ACI-LAC is pleased to support the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Guatemala in addressing common challenges faced by airports worldwide, such as traffic management, climate change and safety.
