The Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) is pleased to share the exciting news of further development in air travel connectivity out of La Isabela International Airport (JBQ) and now also Punta Cana (PUJ). This expansion in services highlights their dedication to strengthening the link with Aruba.

Weekly Services Expansion

In response to the rising demand and popularity for travel to the island, Air Century, which previously operated the La Isabela International Airport (JBQ) – Aruba (AUA) route twice a week, expanded its flight offerings. This strategic move aims to capture a larger market share, meet increasing demand, and enhance overall connectivity. As of December 15th, Air Century boosted its services between JBQ and AUA from two to three weekly flights, providing passengers with increased travel flexibility on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

New Gateway on AUA’s Route Map

The Punta Cana – Aruba route existed previously, but it was discontinued in the year 2011, resulting in an underserved route for many years. Recognizing that the demand for this route continues to exist, Air Century seized the opportunity to reestablish it.

Since December 22nd, 2023, Air Century reintroduced the Punta Cana gateway on AUA’s route map again. Aligned with our diverse travel options commitment, this route will be a year-round flight offering three weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Flight and Seat Capacity Details

The JBQ and PUJ route is serviced by a CRJ2 offering 50 seats per flight. The increase in weekly flights to JBQ and the new Punta Cana route generate an additional 750 seats per month which is a 60% in capacity for Air Century’s operations out of Santo Domingo.

Furthermore, Punta Cana is a 1 hour and 15 minutes flight from Aruba and it is the second most popular destination in the Latin America region.
