Viva Aerobus announced its April 2024 preliminary traffic results. Viva Aerobus’ passenger traffic increased 5.7% compared to April 2023, reaching 2.1 million passengers, driven by an increase of 6.7% in domestic traffic, partially offset by a decrease of 3.0% in international traffic. Load factors reached 83.2% compared to 87.4% in 2023, with a load factor mix of 85.2% and 73.8% in domestic and international, respectively.
Viva Aerobus grew its total capacity in available seat miles (ASMs) by 11.7% compared to April 2023, reflecting an increase of 12.6% and 7.4% in domestic and international, respectively.
“While we observe solid fundamentals in the Mexican market, April traffic reflects the seasonal effects from Easter Holidays shifting from the second to the first quarter of this year. Operationally, it remains a challenging year for the industry given the challenges stemming from the P&W engine recall, but we are working hard to maintain operational reliability”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
