Viva Aerobus announced its May 2024 preliminary traffic results. Viva Aerobus’ passenger traffic increased 13.0% compared to May 2023, reaching 2.3 million passengers, driven by an increase of 13.5% and 7.6% in domestic and international traffic, respectively. Load factors reached 84.5% compared to 86.8% in 2023, with a load factor mix of 86.2% and 75.6% in domestic and international, respectively.
Viva Aerobus grew its total capacity in available seat miles (ASMs) by 16.4% compared to May 2023, reflecting an increase of 17.5% and 11.1% in domestic and international, respectively.
“In May, we observed a sequential recovery in our load factors of 1.2pp, reflecting good passenger demand in a shoulder month. Current booking trends indicate a positive summer season across our markets. I would like to recognize our teams, which are doing a great job navigating the persistent operational challenges stemming from the P&W engine recalls”, said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
