Grupo Aeroportuario, Ferroviario, de Servicios Auxiliares y Conexos Olmeca-Maya-Mexica (GAFSACOMM) is pleased to announce that Puebla and Ciudad Victoria International Airports have obtained Level 1 certification in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program, awarded by Airports Council International (ACI).
The Airport Carbon Accreditation program is an international recognition that evaluates and certifies the efforts made by airports to measure and reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. Globally, this program is the only one of its kind, highlighting carbon management initiatives, implementation of energy efficiency plans and adoption of sustainable practices.
The certification was obtained as a result of Airports and Auxiliary Services’ of ASA management carrying out several key actions, including determining the airports’ operating limit, collecting accurate data and calculating annual emissions for the base years 2019 and 2022.
Airports Council International Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC) has promoted the implementation of this certification, promoting sustainability and energy efficiency in airport operations. The success of these two Mexican airports reflects the importance of adopting sustainable practices that benefit the environment and improve the health and well-being of local communities.
With these actions to update operational and administrative processes at airports, GAFSACOMM promotes research and implementation of practices to improve its airports.
