Hawaiian Airlines’ check-in counter and operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) have moved to Harvey Milk Terminal 1, where they now share space with Alaska Airlines. This move marks an exciting new chapter as the two carriers work together to optimize operations and offer guests a more seamless travel experience.
Hawaiian’s new SFO base is the first of six relocations, which will soon include Sacramento (SMF), Ontario (ONT), Phoenix (PHX), Las Vegas (LAS) and Los Angeles (LAX). The joining of airport spaces is slated for completion by the end of 2025, though the airlines’ separate systems will remain in place until they adopt a single passenger service (PSS) system in 2026.
Alaska Airlines is the second largest carrier at SFO and the largest domestic carrier at Harvey Milk Terminal 1, where it consolidated operations this summer to deliver a better guest experience with advanced lobby technology and access to more gates.
Hawaiian has flown to the Bay Area since 1986 and today serves the region’s busiest airport with daily flights between SFO and Honolulu and Kahului (Maui) using its Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft.
Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines will operate a total of four daily flights between SFO and Hawaiʻi this December. Together, the carriers carry guests around the world with an impressive combined network of over 140 global destinations.
Hawaiian Airlines Guest Service Agent Bruce Loli became work neighbors with his wife and Alaska Airlines Customer Service Agent Jennifer Loli, in the SFO move. “I think it’s an incredible opportunity to be an example of lōkahi (unity). My wife and I look forward to sharing aloha on both sides,” Bruce shared.
