American Airlines and the Gary Sinise Foundation (GSF) joined forces for two weeks in December to make Disney dreams come true for more than 2,500 participants during GSF’s Snowball Express. Families who have lost a loved one during military service, along with the families of fallen first responders, traveled from around the world to Orlando, Florida, for an all-expenses paid experience at Walt Disney World Resort for a week of hope, healing and camaraderie.

More than a thousand American Airlines team members volunteered at more than 90 airports and on 17 charter aircraft to make this year’s Snowball Express a success, with meaningful gate-side ceremonies and themed inflight experiences for participating families.

Among the crew on a Snowball flight departing Washington, D.C., was Captain and Chief Pilot Keith Firmin. A volunteer firefighter for longer than he’s been on the flight deck, Firmin has dedicated both his aviation and first responder careers in extraordinary service to others, including Honor Flights and Snowball Express.
