- The way Elite Points are earned has changed. Earnings will now be calculated by each euro spent, rather than by distance travelled.
- It is now also possible to obtain Elite Points with the brands associated with the programme.
- A new level is being added to the program, Platino Prime, offering a higher category with more benefits.
- The change will be effective from 1 April 2025
Iberia Plus continues to evolve to adapt to new ways of travelling, becoming Club Iberia Plus and adding important new features.
From 1 April 2025, every time Club Iberia Plus members fly on Iberia Group airlines will earn Elite Points – the points needed to upgrade – for every euro spent, instead of for distance travelled, as was the case until now. In addition, Elite Points will also be earned when purchasing additional products and services, such as seat reservations and priority boarding, among others, as well as with purchases from brands associated with the programme, thus making it even easier to upgrade to a higher level. In addition, by purchasing Optimal, Comfort or Flexible fares, members will earn additional Elite Points per leg, depending on the route and cabin they fly.
“We believe that this is a fairer and more transparent way of rewarding our most loyal customers. In addition, including the possibility of accumulating Elite Points with our main airline and non-airline partners undoubtedly strengthens our network and offers our customers more and better benefits,” said Beatriz Guillén, Director of Global Sales and Loyalty.
In addition, to access the Iberia Plus Plata and Oro levels, a smaller number of flights will be required per year, and the possibility of accessing the Platino level by number of flights will also be offered.
The way customers earn Avios, the programme’s currency that customers accumulate when they purchase flights and other services from more than one hundred programme partners, remains unchanged, with the calculation also being made per euro spent.
Iberia Plus Platino Prime
A new level has been added to the loyalty programme: Platino Prime. This new level offers additional benefits, such as a greater accumulation of Avios, more options to obtain free cabin upgrades and exclusive redemption campaigns.
The Platinum Prime level will only be achieved through euros spent, while Platinum will also add the option to achieve it by the number of flights flown. The latter will be valid for one year.
Both Platinum and Platinum Prime will be equivalent to oneworld Emerald status.
About Club Iberia Plus
Club Iberia Plus is the programme with which Iberia rewards the loyalty of its best travellers with flights and other exclusive benefits. The programme currently has more than 6,5 million members and, starting on 1 April, offers five levels: Clásica, Plata, Oro, Platino and Platino Prime. In addition to these, there are two lifetime categories, Infinita e Infinita Prime, which will also offer additional benefits to the current ones.
Members of the Iberia loyalty programme can earn Avios when they fly on Iberia or on the programme’s partner airlines, as well as with the brands with which Avios can be earned: spending on credit cards affiliated to the programme, car hire, refuelling, stays in international hotel chains, or other purchases at more than a hundred partners. Avios can be used as redemption currency to purchase flights, hotels, car rentals, getaways or leisure experiences.
