ALTA NEWS - Ca'arbom joins ALTA as a new member
  • Ca’arbom is a Brazilian climatech company dedicated to offering innovative solutions to mitigate the global challenges of climate change, especially in the aviation sector

Ca’a means “forests” in the indigenous Tupi language. This word is the reference for Ca’arbom, a Brazilian climatech company dedicated to offering innovative solutions to mitigate the global challenges of climate change, especially in the aviation sector. Its name also alludes to “good air” and “carbon,” key elements of the ClimateTech’s mission. Ca’arbom now joins the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) as a new member.

Currently, Ca’arbom and its partner BrCarbon are working on an ambitious project called Brazilian Amazon. “It is the world’s largest carbon credit generation project. Covering 30,000 hectares and growing, Brazilian Amazon generates millions of tons of voluntary carbon credits, and we are now beginning our journey to offer jurisdictional carbon emissions,” said Estevão Braga, co-founder of Ca’arbom.

“At ALTA, we believe in the power of innovation and collaboration to drive progress toward a more sustainable future. Ca’arbom’s addition to our network of members will strengthen the industry’s efforts to reduce emissions and develop solutions aligned with environmental commitments,” said José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director and CEO, who, along with Milena María Fajardo Villada, ALTA’s Director of Fuel and Sustainability, visited the Brazilian Amazon project.

“During the visit, we explored how these projects are making a significant difference in reducing carbon emissions, as they not only protect one of the planet’s most vital ecosystems, with all its biodiversity, but also generate social impact for neighboring communities and could represent a viable solution for the aviation industry with the certification of these carbon credits under the CORSIA scheme,” Botelho stated.

Among the 25 countries with the highest CO₂ emissions from aviation, only two are in Latin America and the Caribbean: Brazil and Mexico, whose total emissions accounted for 2.6% of the accumulated aviation emissions between 2013 and 2023, according to the “Route to Sustainability in Latin America and the Caribbean” report.

Ca’arbom understands the role of aviation in the climate change challenge and works with industry players to address key issues such as emission reductions and the integration of sustainable fuels without compromising operational efficiency. “For Ca’arbom, reducing carbon emissions is not just an urgent challenge but also a strategic opportunity,” the company states.

Headquartered in Brasília, Ca’arbom operates as an innovation hub, bringing together multidisciplinary teams dedicated to research, development, and project execution. Its strategic location allows it to project its impact regionally and internationally. The company has already established key partnerships and driven initiatives that directly contribute to reducing aviation carbon emissions.

Ca’arbom’s executive team will be present at the ALTA Fuel & Sustainability Conference in the Dominican Republic to showcase its solutions and contributions. Limited spots are available. Register now:https://alta.aero/fuel/2025
