Iberia has resumed flights to Washington, D.C. and will do so with the A321XLR, of which it has been the global launch airline. Thanks to this new model, with a narrow fuselage but capable of crossing the Atlantic, Iberia increases the 4 weekly flights from 2024 and will have two additional frequencies to the US capital from April to August, and daily flights in September and October. Additionally, Iberia expands its offer and will operate this route annually.
The flight departed from Aldolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport on April 12, at 11:50 am and arrived at Washington-Dulles International Airport at 3:00 pm. Washington, D.C., thus ir became the second long-haul destination of the A321XL after Boston.
United States, a strong and sustained investment over time
The incorporation of the new A321XLR in the coming months will reinforce Iberia’s commitment to the United States, the country with the largest number of destinations in the airline’s intercontinental network.
In the summer season of 2025, the airline will operate 140 weekly flights between both countries, 14% more than last year, and will put a total of 1.1 million seats on the market.
